Suliaman Al-Rashudi is a 77 year old lawyer and an ex Saudi judge. The Saudi authority arrested Suliaman in 1993 and 1995 and for more than 3 years he was held in custody without any charge or trial. Suliaman was also arrested in 2004 due to his commitment for asking for a monarchy constitution. On the 2nd of February 2007, Suliaman was arrested again along with five other activists. Whilst in prison all the activists were ill-treated by the authorities. Later, a further 10 activists were arrested in Jeddah and Medina. They were all accused of trying to form a group to assemble as oppositions to the regime. The rest of the accusations were all too broad and without much substance.

Al-Rashudi was remanded in custody without trial until February 2010 when the trial began in the Specialized Criminal Court of Saudi Arabia. Al-Rashudi was freed on bail on the 23rd of June 2011. On the 22nd of November 2012, Al-Rashudi was sentenced to 15 years in prison along with a further 15 years international ban on travel once his sentence had been served. He was later arrested on 12th December 2012 after carrying out a lecture of the Right to Protest in Islam and because he was elected as a leader for Saudi Civil and Political Rights Association

At ALQST we insist that the acts carried out by Al- Rushodi are a part of his fundamental rights. We need your support to apply pressure on the authorities to free Dr. Al-Rashudi without any terms attached, to have all the charges dropped against him from the Specialised Criminal Court and to give him his fundamental rights to enjoy his life with dignity, liberty and security.
